Your Child’s Dental Health
Good dental habits start early. Dr. Martirosyan, our Glendale pediatric dentist, has a fun, friendly manner that appeals to even our smallest patients and a compassionate touch that puts even the most fearful at ease. We work with you and your child to establish the dental habits that will form a strong foundation of good dental health.
Children should have their first dental visit with Dr. Martirosyan, our Glendale pediatric dentist, by the time they have their first tooth or they reach 12 months of age. At this first appointment, we will get to know you and your child. There is not necessarily a need for a cleaning, but we can check your child’s mouth and erupting teeth to ensure everything is progressing as expected.

Use a soft cloth or brush to clean their gums after feedings. Once teeth erupt, add a tiny smear of toothpaste to the soft brush and gently clean the teeth twice a day. As your child develops improved motor skills, he or she may want to brush his or her own teeth. Supervise until your child has developed good brushing habits.
At your child’s routine appointments, Dr. Martirosyan will examine his or her teeth, review his or her dental history and make recommendations specific to your child’s needs. She will discuss available treatment options so that you can make the best choices for your child. She will also work with your child to ensure he or she understands the importance of good dental hygiene and knows how to take care of his or her teeth. As your child gets older, we will continue evaluating his or her smile to ensure that it is healthy and developing appropriately. Children may benefit from an orthodontic evaluation by about seven, and early orthodontics may be recommended to better guide the growth of the jaw.
