General Dentistry

Composite Fillings

Composite fillings are used in both general and cosmetic dentistry, sealing cavities after they’ve been cleaned out and ridden of decay, preserving the tooth from further damage. Fillings can also be used to repair chipped, broken, or cracked teeth. Composite fillings can be matched to the color of your teeth, bonding directly to the tooth’s surface and are an increasingly safer and more sought after form of treatment than mercury fillings.

Crowns

Crowns are highly durable and protective restorations for your teeth that can restore original shape after fracture or decay. Crowns are made of incredibly strong materials and used to provide stability and preserve as much of your original tooth as possible, giving you radiant smile once again.

Bridges

A bridge can fill in the gap left by a missing tooth. This is a single appliance generally attached to two teeth on both sides of the space where the tooth is missing. Bridges can be permanent or removable. Missing teeth can cause problems beyond aesthetic, causing bite problems, tooth decay, and gum disease. Missing teeth can also promote loss of bone in the jaw and even lead to additional tooth loss if left untreated. A bridge can help restore your smile and help serve as a catalyst for living a life of great oral health.

Root Canal – Endodontic Treatment

A root canal is generally thought of as a painful procedure, which is unfortunate, because a root canal is actually a procedure designed to relieve pain. Pacific Dental Care can treat the inner aspects of your teeth, proving as an effective means to avoid tooth extraction. When the nerve or vessel of a tooth is infected or experiences trauma, a root canal will remove injured pulp. The root canal is then cleaned and sealed for protection, followed by a crown to further protect from fracture.

Gum Disease – Periodontal Treatment

The tissues surrounding your teeth are just as susceptible to damage and wear as your actual teeth are. Periodontal treatment is generally performed when a patient has gum disease, which is caused by plaque and tartar buildup, bacteria and particle gatherings on your teeth. When these bacteria cause inflammation and redness in the gums, this is generally considered Gingivitis. When Gingivitis is left untreated, it can lead to periodontitis, which can cause your teeth to loosen and even fall out. Periodontitis is the leading form of tooth loss among adults.

Don’t leave open doors for bacteria to invade your teeth and important systems of your body. A tooth in decay and diseased gums can lead to additional health problems, even heart disease. Pacific Dental Care can help treat gingivitis and periodontitis, helping you maintain your oral hygiene for a lifetime to come.
